Knowing the right answer is only half of apologetics. The other half is getting that answer into a real conversation: with a sceptical friend who keeps changing the subject, a heckler on the street, or a trained opponent at a lectern. This module is about the craft of conversation itself.
You will learn Greg Koukl's question-asking method, the street approaches of Ray Comfort and Apologia Church's presuppositional evangelists, the structure and skills of formal debate, and the logical fallacies you will meet (and be tempted to commit) in all three settings. You do not need to be an expert to start: the question-asking and character skills can be practised this week in ordinary conversations. Each lesson adds a different set of tools, and all of them serve one goal, which the final lesson draws together: bringing every conversation to Christ and the gospel.
Running through it all is the question of character. Peter says to give a defence 'with gentleness and respect' (1 Pet 3:15-16), and Paul says the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome (2 Tim 2:24). A winning argument delivered with contempt can lose the person. We want to be sharp in reasoning and soft in spirit.
