Islam is the second largest religion in the world, with close to two billion adherents. Muslims believe in one God, honour Jesus as a great prophet, and take Scripture and revelation seriously. That gives Christians and Muslims a real basis for serious conversation, and it also means the differences matter deeply.
This module first teaches you what Muslims actually believe and practise, so that you can speak accurately and respectfully. It then works through the central apologetic questions: the Quran's own testimony to the Torah and Gospel (the 'Islamic dilemma'), the textual history of the Quran and the Bible, the Quran's portrait of Jesus, claims that Muhammad is foretold in the Bible, and the question of assurance of salvation.
You will draw on Christian apologists who have spent years in this field, including James White, David Wood, Sam Shamoun, Jay Smith and the late Nabeel Qureshi, as well as online apologists such as GodLogic who regularly debate Muslim apologists. You will also hear the strongest Muslim arguments in their own words, because many of your Muslim friends will be well trained. Above all, remember Qureshi's story: Muslims come to Christ through friendship, Scripture and the love of Christians as much as through argument.
